PHARMACEUTICS-III DEPT. B.PHARM
Department of Pharmaceutics – III (B.Pharm)
Welcome to the Department of Pharmaceutics – III, the final and most advanced frontier of the B.Pharm formulation journey. If Pharmaceutics-II taught you how to manufacture conventional medicines, Pharmaceutics-III is where you learn to engineer smart medicines. Here, our senior students step into the future of healthcare by exploring Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS). We focus on the cutting-edge science of delivering a drug exactly where it is needed in the body, at the precise time it is required, and in the safest way possible.
What Makes Our Department Stand Out
Next-Generation Formulation Labs: Our specialized laboratories are designed to handle complex, high-tech formulations. We’ve moved beyond basic compounding to equip our students with the tools needed to create sustained-release therapies and targeted medications.
A Pioneering Research Environment: In this department, we treat our senior students like junior scientists. Instead of just following manuals, you are encouraged to design, formulate, and critically evaluate your own innovative drug delivery concepts.
Specialized Instrumentation: Students get hands-on, practical experience with advanced analytical and formulation equipment, such as multi-vessel dissolution testing apparatus, Franz diffusion cells (for testing skin patches), and ultra-sonnicators used for micro and nano-systems.
Direct Pathway to R&D: The techniques and problem-solving skills developed here are exactly what top-tier pharmaceutical Research & Development (R&D) departments are looking for. We bridge that final gap between academic learning and high-level industrial innovation.
What You Will Master Here
✔ Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS): The heart of modern pharmacy. You will learn the intricate science behind formulating liposomes, nanoparticles, and targeted therapies that attack diseased cells (like cancer) while safely sparing healthy tissue.
✔ Controlled & Sustained Release Formulations: Why take a pill three times a day when once is enough? We teach the physical chemistry and polymer science behind designing tablets that release their active ingredients slowly and steadily over 12 to 24 hours.
✔ Transdermal & Advanced Delivery: Thinking beyond the traditional pill. You will dive into the formulation and evaluation of medicated skin patches (transdermal delivery), ocular inserts, and mucosal sprays that offer painless and highly effective alternatives to injections.
✔ Advanced Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics: We take a deeper mathematical and biological look at how the human body processes complex formulations, ensuring that new delivery systems actually perform the way they are designed to inside the patient.
✔ Regulatory Affairs & Global Standards: Innovation must meet safety. You will learn the strict global rules (including FDA, ICH, and WHO guidelines) that govern how advanced drug delivery systems are tested, approved, and successfully brought to the global market
